A service is an item that you offer as an appointment. To help you organize your services, Timewise groups them by categories, and also allows you to specify whether a service is a parent or an add-on service. Add-ons can be booked with other services, but they cannot be booked as standalone appointments. For example, your parent services may include "Haircut" and your add-on services may include "Shampoo" or "Color".
The following table lists the actions that each predefined role can perform:

A service is defined by the following attributes:
- Locations: Specify the locations where your new service is enabled and can be booked.
- Name: Represents the name of your service. The system displays this name on the Appointments page of the staff application and on the Book an Appointment page of the booking application.
- Category: The system groups services by categories. You can choose a category from the list of existing categories, or create a new category.
- Description: Enter a brief description of your new service. The system displays this description on the Book an Appointment page of the booking application
- Price: specify the price of this service.
- Duration: Indicate how long the room and the staff member(s) will be booked for. The time is blocked beginning from the start time, which is selected during booking.
- Availability Check: Use the Staff and Room toggles to specify whether the system should book a staff member or a room when you schedule an appointment for this service.
- (Optional) Add-Ons: specify the add-on services that customers can book with this service.
- (Optional) Book Online: Choose whether customers can book this service in the booking application or make the service bookable only on the Appointments page of the staff application.
- (Optional) Booking Lead Time: When the online booking feature is enabled, this determines the farthest in advance that a booking can be made. Customers can only schedule an appointment if that appointment is within the booking lead time.
- (Optional) Deposit amount: Enabling deposits allows your clients to reserve a time slot, and pay for the remainder of the appointment later.
- (Optional) Cancellation Window: Specify how close to an appointment's start time customers can cancel. When customers cancel outside of the cancellation window you enter here, the system will not charge them a cancellation fee.
- (Optional) Cancellation Fee: Enter the cancellation fee.
- Taxes: Specify which taxes you want to apply to this service.
- (Optional) Waivers: When customers book this service, the system will prompt them to sign the waivers you specify here.

Create a Service
All the new services are visible in all your locations. When you create a service as an owner or admin, that service will only be enabled in the locations you specify in the Locations section. When you create a service as a location manager, that new service will only be enabled in the current location.
Note that your customers and staff members can only book those services that are enabled in a location.
