A class is a service a staff member offers to more than one student. For example, you can offer a cycling class every Monday and Wednesday at 11 am. The teacher is always there, but students can come to the classes that fit their schedules. To help you organize your classes, Timewise groups them by type.

The following table lists the actions that each predefined role can perform:

A class is defined by the following attributes:

  • Locations: Use the toggles under Locations to specify the locations where your new class is enabled and can be booked.
  • Name: enter a descriptive name for your new class. The system displays this name on the Classes page of the staff application and on the Book a Class page of the booking application.

  • Category: The system groups classes by categories. You can choose a category from the list of existing categories, or create a new category.

  • Description: enter a brief description of your new class. The system displays this description on the Book a Class page of the booking application.

  • Price: specify the price of this class.

  • Seatsenter the maximum number of seats in your class.

  • Duration: Indicate how long the room and the staff member(s) will be booked for. The time is blocked beginning from the start time, which is selected during booking.

  • Availability Check: Use the Staff and Room toggles to specify whether the system should book a staff member or a room when you schedule this class.

  • (Optional) Cancellation Window: Specify how close to an appointment's start time customers can cancel. When customers cancel outside of the cancellation window you enter here, the system will not charge them a cancellation fee.

  • (Optional) Cancellation Fee: Enter the cancellation fee.

  • (Optional) Book Online: Choose whether customers can book this class in the booking application or make the class bookable only on the Classes page of the staff application.

  • (Optional) Booking Lead Time: When the online booking feature is enabled, this determines the farthest in advance that a booking can be made. Customers can only book a seat in class if that class is scheduled within the booking lead time.

  • Taxes: Specify which taxes you want to apply to this service.

  • (Optional) Waivers: When customers book this service, the system will prompt them to sign the waivers you specify here.

For details about how to perform some of the operations that are common to most sections, see the How to Use the Settings Section page. The rest of this section provides details about the actions that are unique to this section.

Create a Class

All the new classes are visible in all your locations. When you create a new class as an owner or admin, that class will only be enabled in the locations you specify in the Locations section. When you create a class as a location manager, that class will only be enabled in the current location.

Note that your customers and staff members can only book those services that are enabled in a location.
